What are our tracks, our paths, what do we mark and the trails of our history that we leave behind? This is the theme from which the Koreoproject team takes inspiration for the work with the prisoners inside the Lecce District House entitled TRACCE.
The term trace usually denotes a sign, a footprint or a trail; leaving a trace of oneself is one of the aspirations of every human being. Moving on to history, reaching lasting fame beyond the short span of existence, entrusting the soul to the memory of posterity as a substitute for immortality…
Murakami wrote that everyone leaves his mark in the place he feels belongs most to him. The space we live is transformed in relation to our way of life, in a more or less marked way, we leave traces of our presence, through the consequences of the habits of our daily doing. Sometimes we forget that our own body is the representation of our history, it carries within itself the traces of our past, of past experiences. Like a geographical map, it indicates where the experiences are located and what the emotions associated with them. Unlike the “classic memory” which is activated by cognitive memories, the body memory does it with real physical memories, through sensations and physiological reactions.
This is why our language, that of movement, expresses the purity of our being. Through our artistic language we will tell stories of each of the participants, transforming them into music and movement tracks, and with the support of the art of sculpture we will aim to “visualize” our history and make it eternal. The languages of the show develop through three thematic workshops: Music, Dance, Sculpture during which the aim is to research and discover a new vocabulary of movement, the musical and singing aptitudes of the prisoners and to introduce them to the discovery of the world of sculpture.
The interest and the educational priority, that is, the real theme that you want to develop, is the achievement of the inner universe of prisoners, a universe to be discovered and brought out, in order to lead each of them to describe their world in a way personal and make their vision universal and theatrical.
