Uni-Tanz will conclude on Tuesday, September 8th with a live web meeting with teachers, students, and guests.
There’s still time until Thursday, August 27 to sign up for the eighth edition of Uni-Tanz, a contemporary dance campus, organized by the Koreoproject Association, with the artistic direction of Giorgia Maddamma and coordination by Sara Bizzoca. From Tuesday, September 1st to Sunday, September 6th, due to restrictions and anti-COVID19 measures, Uni-Tanz will not offer its usual formula with intensive classes in Lecce but a novel online edition. The program will host contemporary technique classes with artistic director Maddamma (teacher of contemporary technique at the National Academy of Dance in Rome and former teacher at the Folkwang Universitet der Kunste) and with Pascal Merighi (who after his experience with Jochen Ulrich’s Tanz Forum Köln, has been working with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch since 1999) and choreographic workshops by Thusnelda Mercy (who, in addition to her work with the Tanztheater Wuppertal, founded the Trio CDT with dancers Clémentine Deluy and Damiano Ottavio Bigi) and Aida Vainieri (since 1991 a permanent dancer of the Tanztheater Wuppertal, previously a guest with the Folkwang Tanz Studio and performer of creations by Carolyn Carlson, Raffaella Giordano, and Urs Dietrich). Tuesday, September 8th at 18:00, a final meeting, always live online, with teachers, students, and guests.
Uni-Tanz – a unique opportunity in the Italian landscape for the presence of highly profiled and experienced artists – is organized in collaboration with Folkwang Universität der Kunste in Essen, Germany, a prestigious German university where masters like Pina Bausch, Jean Cebron, Susanne Linke, Malou Airaudo, Dominique Merci, Lutz Forster, and many other well-known names in international dance have taught. The collaboration extends to the Ciardo Pellegrino and Pitagora choreutic high schools in Lecce and Montalbano Jonico respectively, and other private partners.
Over the first editions, Uni-Tanz has welcomed participants from Italy, Argentina, Brazil, the USA, Germany, France, England, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Japan, and Taiwan. The Campus has also been an opportunity for many students to move on to European university dance locations. Over the years, Uni-Tanz has initiated and consolidated collaborations and agreements with prestigious regional, national, and international institutions, such as the Tito Schipa Conservatory of Music and the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce, the National Academy of Dance in Rome, and the Tisch School of the Arts in New York, to name a few.
